Summer 2016 courses will be held from May 16th to August 3rd, so you may already be attending summer classes as Session A courses are already in full swing. If not, your summer classes are slowly approaching and you want to ace them! Summer classes tend to be short and cover a lot of material, thus it can be challenging. Keep reading on for some tips on how to succeed:
1. Don’t skip class
Summer classes are already very short and condensed into a small time period, so missing class can really put you behind. Make sure you attend every class and stay up to date on the material.
2. Don’t fall behind on assignments and studying
Due dates are closer than they appear because everything is covered and tested in only a month! Your assignments may be due at the end of the course, but you don’t want to let them pile up until the last minute. You need time to study for the final so get your assignments out of the way.
3. Make a schedule
It’s summer time and you probably have a lot of other things on your plate like work, social life, and family commitments. It’s essential that you plan out a weekly schedule so you can allot time to spend with friends, family, or even Netflix! Summer is the time to travel, catch up on TV shows and reading, and socialize. You want to have an enjoyable AND productive summer, so keep a planner, make notes, and have fun.
4. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your professors
During the summer, a lot of material is covered very quickly which pressures you into being a fast learner. If you are struggling, shoot your professor an email or ask a classmate for help. You can set up an appointment to meet with your professor and go over any material you find challenging.
