The Off-Campus Student Council is a group of students who enable off-campus student involvement, equip off-campus students with resources that address their needs and concerns, engage students to foster new off-campus student initiatives, and embrace community outreach. Our work includes, but is not limited to, event programming (and hyping), with close ties to Off-Campus Student Programs and Services, organizing and running monthly meetings, and making and maintaining friendships with the off-campus community.
On Wednesday, March 26, the Off-Campus Council Leaders went to North Plaza and ran the #GMUOCC event. The purpose of the event was to connect with off-campus students and to meet off-campus students who may have not known about our organization. The event attracted hundreds of students, who participated in activities such as beach ball trivia and the selfie photo booth. Even in the cold weather, the council leaders were able to make new friends and talk about their experience as off-campus students and as student leaders. Leila Raminpour writes, “I’m an undecided off campus freshmen. I have been helping out as an OCC Leader since September. I thought the event yesterday was great as a part of the Off Campus Appreciation Week. Having four different activities was fun and we were hoping to students to stop by on their way to class with freebies and information on what the Off-Campus Council and the office has to offer. I was manning the table with the free tickets to the circus and the beach ball questions with a fellow OOC Leader, Fatima.”
