As we type away the essays and reread notes for what feels like the hundredth time-it’s starting to feel a lot like finals!
We made it through the stresses of midterms and we’ve hoped that you were able to use our resources in the Mid-Term Study Lounge. As an off-campus student, it can be hard managing your time between your on-campus life, keeping up with classes, part-time jobs, family responsibilities, and making time for friends. Here are some helpful tips to keep you on your feet and ready for the next curve ball life tries to throw at you!
Learn to prioritize your responsibilities: You can’t do everything! As much as we try to cram in our “to-do list” all in one day, take a breather, and realistically prioritize what you can get accomplished today and what can wait for tomorrow.
Finding a place to study: Do you prefer the quiet scene, enjoy studying with friends, or looking for a room to hold a group study session? If so, Mason has a bunch of study spaces to accommodate your preferences. From reserving study rooms in the Johnson Center and Fenwick Library to late night study spaces at The Ridge, we’ve got you covered! Check out our “where to study” resources here.
Reward Yourself: You are working as hard as you can, so treat yourself for the little victories. Take a step back and evaluate everything you have accomplished. Don’t burn yourself out. You know what you can handle and when you need a break.
Maximize efficiency. Minimize distractions: As addicting as Facebook, Instragram, Twitter and Snapchat can be, you will study more effectively without them. When you don’t have something distracting you, it’s easier to focus all your energy on one thing.
We hope that these tips help you get through the remainder of the semester! We hope to see you at our 24-hour Finals Study Lounge December 11-16th in George’s Restaurant!
